Recently, a mass shooting in Atlanta left eight people dead, six of whom were Asian women. This incident has caused outrage in the Asian-American community because hate crimes against Asians have increased drastically since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We send our deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. We feel sadness and anger."

"We remember the times we faced discrimination as Asians. We have endured unconditional cursing and ridicule because of our appearance. We were even asked why Asians speak English."

"We cannot put into words the pain of being the subject of hatred and violence for such reasons. Our own experiences are insignificant compared to the events that took place over the past few weeks. But these experiences are enough to make us feel helpless and lose self-respect. we."

"What is happening now cannot be separated from our identity as Asians. It will take quite a while to discuss this carefully and we ponder deeply on how we should get our message across."

"But what our voices have to say is clear. We are against racial discrimination. We condemn violence. You, I and we all have the right to be respected. We will stand together."

This is not the first time BTS has spoken out about racial discrimination and equality. Last year, they also used Twitter to show support for the #BlackLivesMatter movement. (wk / chus)
