'Train To Busan' Will Be Remake in American Version, Fans Give Strong Refusals

American company plans to remake Korean hit film 'Train To Busan'. They will collaborate with Indonesian director Timo Tjahjanto in working on this project.

New Line Cinema plans to remake the South Korean film "Train to Busan" into a Hollywood version. The company will partner with Indonesian director Timo Tjahjanto as the project leader.

As soon as this news broke, international fans gave strong objections. Netizens poured out their anger on various social media because they were disappointed that this film would be produced into a Hollywood version.

Fans thought that the "Train to Busan" story was perfect, so they were worried that the remake would be a lot different. Some even compared it to the remake of "Avatar: The Last Airbender" which was also flooded with criticism for a change in plot and other things.

That's why fans asked New Line Cinema to cancel the plan in order to preserve the authenticity of the "Train to Busan" story. Check out some of their comments below:

Regarding the hatred, director Timo has stated that he does not expect to beat the film "Train to Busan". This he conveyed via Twitter on Friday (19/2).

"Nothing can beat OG: TRAIN TO BUSAN, a beloved horror that makes me cry (It hasn't happened since 'Amenabar's The Others'. Therefore, James, Gary & I make the absolute vow: Don't disrespect and disappoint fans. . And well ... punk rock, "wrote Timo on Twitter.

Meanwhile, "Train to Busan" is a thriller film about a zombie apocalypse released in 2016. The film has achieved success both in Korea and internationally. Thanks to this success, this film has spawned a sequel titled "Train to Busan: Peninsula" which was released in 2020. (wk / eval)
