Shotaro became one of the two NCT members announced at the end of last year for the NCT 2020 project. So how did the Japanese idol join SM Entertainment to finally become a member of NCT?
Regardless of how short his time with the group Shotaro was, he immediately captivated fans with his cute mannerisms and impressive dancing. Since many fans wondered how he made his debut, Shotaro explained it.
During the fansign video call for NCT's new album on January 23, a fan asked what inspired Shotaro to become an idol. He said that he wanted to become an idol after seeing NCT 127's performance in his home country Japan.
"Oh, the reason why I had to debut. When I was in Japan, I saw 127 hyung's concert," said Shotaro.
After watching their spectacular stage act, Shotaro realized that he wanted to become an idol too. He didn't think twice about leaving his home country like many other NCT members and pursuing his dream.
Shotaro stated, "When I saw that, I decided to become a singer. And that's why I came to Korea."
Since fans discovered Shotaro's pre-debut TikTok account (now deleted), where he showed off his skills by covering NCT 127's "Kick It", the explanation made a lot of sense. Shotaro even danced to the group's choreography with a mix of "Cherry Bomb", "Kick It" and "Limitless" in another video.
Shotaro has changed from a fanboy who covers group songs to an actual NCT member. He is the definition of a successful fanboy. If you hadn't attended NCT 127's concert, the world might never have known such an amazing dancer like Shotaro.
