The SBS drama "Penthouse" is now one of the dramas that are very popular with viewers. The drama, starring Lee Ji Ah, always presents a surprising storyline in every episode. Due to the success of "Penthouse", the old interview of the playwright Kim Soon Ok is again in the spotlight. On one occasion, he admitted that he was hated for writing makjang dramas.
"I get a lot of hate comments. I feel miserable. Did I do something bad like spreading the virus to society?" Kim Soon Ok said during an interview in 2011.
However, Kim Soon Ok realized that the makjang drama "Temptation of Wife" that she wrote could be a form of entertainment for patients at the hospital. That's why Kim Soon Ok ended up writing various makjang dramas in the following years, including "The Last Empress" and "Penthouse".
"When I got hate comments, one day I visited the hospital. Patients who were struggling for their lives watched 'Temptation of Wife' I wrote. And during those 40 minutes, they forgot the pain and focused completely on the drama," said Kim Soon Ok. at that time.
This 1970-born writer continued, "I was criticized by some people. But I feel proud of the fact that I can help people forget their pain and suffering."
After learning about the old interview, Korean netizens immediately praised him. "A family member was sick when 'Temptation of Wife' aired and all patients at the hospital were obsessed with the drama," wrote a netter. Meanwhile, "Penthouse" has been confirmed to air until its third season. Although the first season has not yet ended, the crew and cast are reportedly shooting season two.
