The drama Yumi's Cells is Kim Go Eun's second project adapted from a popular online comic. In 2016, he co-starred with Park Hae Jin and Seo Kang Joon in the drama Cheese in the Trap.

Meanwhile, Yumi's Cells will be led by Lee Sang Yeob, the director behind the drama Familiar Wifeda and Shopping King Louie. He will collaborate with three screenwriters at once: Song Jae Jung (Alhambra), Kim Yoon Joo (Find Me in Your Memory), and Kim Kyung Ran.
