BoA is known to pave the way for all female K-Pop idols and she is still around for 20 years after her debut. BoA recently appeared on the YouTube channel, MMTG where she sits down to talk about all her hit songs.
From “Atlantis Girl” to “My Name” to “Girls On Top”, this legendary K-Pop idol has tons of hits under his belt. During a conversation about his hit songs, he revealed some behind-the-scenes information about his 2012 hit song, "Only One".
BoA talked about how proud she is of this song, as she composed and wrote the lyrics herself. After the host revealed that the legendary idol was taking part in composing his own song, BoA received this overwhelming response. "(Song) this is my baby!" said BoA.
As they continued to talk about the song, BoA sweetly admitted that “Only One” caused her first “bickering” with SM Entertainment founder Lee Soo Man. "He said he didn't like songs about breaking up. So for the first time, I stepped in. I thought it was my pride as a lyricist at that time," said BoA.
After their sweet story about SM Entertainment's father figure, they move on to another iconic part of the song. The emcee was curious about the couple dance part of the song because of its immense popularity at the time. "The couple's dance part of the song became a hot topic," said the host Jae Jae.
"I noticed that only your male dance partner did very hard choreography (leg kick choreography)," continued host Jae Jae. This led to a surprising response from BoA. She revealed to viewers and show hosts that it was a certain dance move that made her the only condition when looking for a dance partner.
"Because of that movement I finally only had one condition that was needed," said BoA. He revealed that he only chose dance partners who could do the leg kick move in one kick. "I only choose partners who can make the move," said BoA.
For fans who don't know, BoA's past “Only One” male dance partners were SHINee's Taemin, TVXQ's U-Know Yunho, EXO's Sehun, and Super Junior's Eunhyuk. It seems that these four male idols have impressed BoA with their leg-kicking abilities since appearing on stage with BoA. This also impressed netizens with BoA's "Only One" performance due to the catchy melody and amazing choreography.
