Rolling Stone Magazine Recently Released a List of '75 Best Boyband Songs of All Time', Which Includes Songs from Groups from the First Boyband Era to the Present. There Are Some K-Pop Artists Also Included in This List.
Although the K-Pop boy band is currently very popular, they are not the ones who started the boy band trend. Boy group trends can be traced back to the 1950s, where young men would form musical groups together and were very attractive to most young female fans.
Rolling Stone Magazine recently released a list of "75 Best Boyband Songs of All Time", which includes songs from groups from the first boyband era to the present. Among the iconic groups such as The Monkees, New Kids on the Block, Backstreet Boys and One Direction, there are several K-Pop artists also on this list.
In total there were 9 K-Pop songs that entered the list with different ratings. The Bangtan Boys (BTS) song titled "Fake Love" successfully entered the list by taking 56th place. Right above it, there is a song from Infinite "The Chaser" which ranks 55th on the list.
The third song is a song from an old Korean boy group, Seo Taiji, which ranks 43rd with the song "I Know". Ranked in the 30's, the legendary song from TVXQ boy group "Mirotic" successfully ranked 39th on the list. BTS Back managed to put one of his songs. This time it was Jungkook's solo song "Euphoria" which successfully placed 34th on the list.
Still in the top 30, there is an iconic song from BIG BANG namely "Fantastic Baby" who sits quietly in 31st position. Not without reason, "Fantastic Baby" was their first song, and one of the first songs on K-Pop as a whole, which really penetrated the American market in a big way.
Far in the top 20, BTS again appeared in 19th place with its spring song, "Spring Day". This song talks a lot about sadness, inspired by and made for the tragic Sewol Ferry accident in 2014, with lyrics that quite a lot of people can relate to losing in some way.
In 14th place is SHINee's powerful flagship song, "Sherlock". "Sherlock", released in 2012, is very experimental. It is not an original song, but actually a combination of two other SHINee songs namely "Note" and "Clue", both with very different sounds from each other. As such, the song is considered the first K-Pop "hybrid remix" single, and is very good for experimental.
Finally, BTS once again placed one song and is the highest ranked K-Pop song on the Rolling Stone list. The song is Jin's solo song, "Moon" which is ranked 5. A classic style song for boy band, "Moon" perfectly explains what BTS fans mean to the group, and is a good example of how and why K-Pop boy band has become so massive in the music industry.
