In an interview with OSEN, DAY6 opened about the writing process behind their latest comeback song. Not Only That, They Also Discuss The Problem When The Most Happy Members And Their Largest Motivation.
DAY6 on May 11 and then officially comeback with an album titled "The Book Of Us: The Demon". In this album, they performed the main song titled "Zombie" and immediately dominated the chart.
"The 'Demon' on our new album represents an emotional imbalance, or a relationship like a seesaw where one person steps forward and the other moves further away from them. When we focus on this imbalance, I think we naturally emphasize an atmosphere of emptiness," member DAY6.
DAY6 talks about one of their clearest memories while working on their song. They mentioned that the inspiration for "Zombie" came when they watched people's activities from the car when they finished practicing.
"During the time we wrote the lyrics for 'Zombie', I remember being in the car after completing our activities and looking out the window at people's expressions. Suddenly I thought, 'Don't we live on the same day over and over again?'. as if we don't have emotions and move like machines. We are inspired by this feeling of emptiness, "they said.
The members mentioned what musical ideas they put in for this comeback. The members revealed that many ideas were included in their music because DAY6 members wrote their own songs.
"Because we wrote our own songs, it is inevitable that many of our musical ideas will be included in the album," they said. "When we were recording drums, we thought of the right parts. We improvised here and there, and that part was included in our song."
The members also shared what they were focusing on for the "Zombie" music video. The DAY6 members claimed to really focus on the empty feeling of "Zombie" in order to express their song concept perfectly.
"We believe that the music video is the one that should express the concept of the song visually at its best. We really focus on the empty feeling behind 'Zombie' by making films in a heavy and silent way," they said.
As writers, composers, singers, and musical instrumentalists themselves, DAY6 members revealed their happiest and most difficult moments. "It's too difficult to choose just one moment," they said.
"Every job has pros and cons. However, we are the happiest when we are on stage and performing together, especially when we really communicate with our audience and realize that we all experience the same emotions," said DAY6 member.
"The fans who support and love us so that we can show good music. We have been able to grow because of our fans. In addition, we will also say our music ambitions," he continued.
