Generally In Choosing a Leader, SM Entertainment Debut Groups Appoint the Oldest Members. But In Some Other Groups, Who Are Chosen As Leaders Are Not The Oldest Members. This Is Their Similarity.
An idol group has several positions that can be filled by the members ranging from vocalist, dancer, rapper, center to leader. Each position certainly has its own criteria, including leaders.
Generally in selecting leaders, SM Entertainment debutant groups designate the oldest members. This applies to Super Junior's Leeteuk, Girls' Generation's Yeon Yeon, SHINee's Onew, Victoria f (x) and Irene Red Velvet.
But in some other groups, who were chosen as leaders are not the oldest members but they are considered to have the ability to lead. This applies to U-Know TVXQ (at the beginning of debut), Suho EXO (although Suho himself is the oldest member in the EXO-K sub-unit and Taeyong NCT 127.
A post on the Pann online community site highlighted the similarity of the leaders of the SM groups even though not all of the oldest members in their respective groups, namely their visuals. Netizens who publish posts write that all SM group leaders have a pleasing look.
"Does SM choose a leader by seeing their faces?" thus written in posstingan. Responding to the contents of the post, other netizens also contributed comments.
