They criticized the brand and Gong Hyo Jin for agreeing to the risky "retro" concept. Gong Hyo Jin's clothes and thermal bottles are said to represent "dabang receipts".

Back in the 80s, several Korean dabang (coffee shops) employed young women, called receipts (commercial sex workers), to deliver coffee to men in these thermal bottles. Although this does not apply to all coffee shops and shippers, most of these brokers offer paid services and even sexual pleasure. In Korean films and dramas, a dabang receipt is often described this way.

"The thermal bottle is the same one that receipts carry in old dramas and movies. They use the bottle because it's a bonus because they order a lot of plus-plus services. I hate this," commented netizens. "I like the other clothes, but the red one with the clear thermal bottle is the receipt style," added another netizen.

"I can't believe a concept like this is approved," netizens criticized. "I don't know if I'm the stupid one because I immediately think of receipt clothes when I see this. But I can tell you one thing, this is not how retro works," said another.

"I can see the dabang girl's vigorous vibe from this. And dabang in general don't have the most positive reputation. I'm really not sure what Maxim is aiming for with this whole promotion," concluded the other.

Comparisons like this make Gong Hyo Jin fans really angry. They argue that, "Families also use this thermal bottle at home to keep their drinks hot". They also made fun of netizens not to understand fashion and retro concepts in general.
