On Friday (2/8) yesterday, a lawyer responsible for the final ranking manipulation case 'Produce X 101' conducted an interview and shared his thoughts on the case.

Controversy related to the alleged manipulation of the final ranking "Produce X 101" until now has not subsided. Despite being investigated by the authorities, on Thursday (1/8) the official fans filed a lawsuit over this issue at the Prosecutor's Office.

On Friday (2/8), Sports Chosun conducted an exclusive interview with lawyer Kim Jong Hwi. He is responsible for prosecuting the "Produce X 101" truth clarification committee. On this occasion, he had many interesting things about his thoughts in responding to this problem.

"If this is a legal problem because it is paid, then the case will be similar to the fraudulent act of fees for using information," he said. "As far as I know, there are no representative legal examples about 'voting by filling messages' like this. What's more, there is never a precedent in the case of incidents that develop into suspicions about 'cheating on broadcast' until brought to justice."

Lawyer Kim Jong Hwi criticized Mnet's initial dishonesty, so that fans were provoked and made greater efforts. In addition, he was also suspicious if the participants' agencies were involved or working with Mnet to manipulate the final ranking. Because the agency will also benefit if there is a trainee who debuts through "Produce X 101".

"When considering the legal situation for the first time, I realized the key point about 'suspicion of vote manipulation'," he explained. "But I thought 'Is this really a deliberate mistake? But why are they making up cases that could be a bigger problem?'

"I assume that this is not just because of the rating," he added. "Even though at first I thought that the trainee agencies were the losers, it is likely that there were also several companies (agencies) involved in this incident."

"Obviously there are civil restrictions. The amount of damage is not large and it is difficult to get evidence without formal investigation," he explained. "Television stations have a public obligation. It is their (their) obligation to disclose the results of the SMS voting transparently."

"This is a public interest suit so that the audience knows the truth. I receive a minimum fee," he explained. "If this incident is properly investigated, cases like this will not happen again. Finally, I think it all depends on how the investigation agent investigates."

"TV stations are TV stations and viewers are viewers, we must be careful not to let things like this happen again," he said. "In addition, if this case is concluded that there is indeed manipulation, it is necessary to improve the system to prevent similar incidents from reoccurring. That is what the members of the council will do, and I will focus on this trial."

Meanwhile, the dropout group, X1, will make their debut on August 27th. Previously, Mnet and the participants' agencies also received a lot of criticism because they still claimed X1 according to the initial plan, even though this problem had not yet ended.
