Song Joong Ki's New Drama Accused of Staff Persecution, This Said the Production Company - Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won's new drama 'The Chronicles of Aseudal' is accused of not providing an adequate work environment for staff members. And this is the official statement of the Drama Production Company.

Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won's new drama 'The Chronicles of Aseudal' is accused of not providing an adequate work environment for staff members.

On Wednesday (10/4), Hanbit Center and the broadcasting department of Hope Solidarity Labor Union held a press conference in front of the Seoul Labor Administration and Regional Labor Administration building. The action was held to voice their concerns about the alleged inadequate working conditions experienced by the staff of the drama "The Chronicles of Aseudal".

They voiced that Studio Dragon's production company had violated the Labor Standards Act during the recruitment of staff members and filming the drama. They have also submitted a letter of complaint beforehand.

A staff member explained several violations committed by Studio Dragon. The company hasn't even paid overtime to staff.

"Studio Dragon does not sign a formal employment contract with staff members and has not complied with the regulations regarding working hours and restrictions on overtime," said the staff. "In addition, they have not paid us for overtime work. During filming in Brunei, we worked for a maximum of 151 hours 30 minutes a week without holidays. A staff member even had his arm broken in an accident."

In response to this controversy, Studio Dragon finally released its official statement. In their statement, they expressed their determination to improve working conditions on the set of "The Chronicles Of Aseudal".

"The company has actively participated in talks with the broadcasting department from the Hope Solidarity Labor Union," said Studio Dragon. "And discussed the further meeting schedule until yesterday when we heard that a press conference was held."

"The company continues to work hard to improve the working conditions of the broadcasting network so that it is aligned with the original intent of the production guidelines," added Studio Dragon. "Because of the lack of volunteers to act as consultative groups representing broadcasting staff, we experienced some difficulties in formulating changes to the guidelines."

"However, we are committed to improving production conditions with a high sense of duty," continued Studio Dragon. "And we adhere to a production time of 68 hours per week and operate a secondary production team."

"With regard to current suspicions about the working hours of the art or make-up team, this is due to differences in standards with which time is calculated," explained Studio Dragon. "And other suspicions now require further evidence to confirm that."

"The company plans to voluntarily work with every request made by the Seoul Labor and Manpower Administration," explained Studio Dragon. "And we plan to do our best to ensure new guidelines are implemented in all working conditions in each part of the production process."

Meanwhile, "The Chronicles of Aseudal" starred Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won. This drama will be their reunion project after both of them starred in the hit drama "Descendants of the Sun" in 2016.
