"(Kang Daniel) signed a contract that included unfair contract terms, so the request for this contract was considered invalid and so that the contract terms were renegotiated on February 28," the letter read.
Kang Daniel's contract with LM Entertainment signed on February 2, 2018 will take effect on February 2, 2019. Content certification is sent one day before that date.
Represented by Yulchon law firm, a second notice was sent to LM Entertainment on March 4. One of the points presented is, "LM did not pay Kang Daniel 50 million won (around Rp. 626.5 million) that was promised to sign the contract". LM provides evidence of 48.35 million won (around Rp. 605.7 million) paid to Kang Daniel on April 14, 2018. This is payment of contracts less withholding tax of 3.3 percent.
Another point argues that LM Entertainment was registered as a popular culture planning business on 7 February 2019 and was not registered at the time of signing the contract, which violated the first clause of Article 13 in the contract.
"LM completes registration on February 7, 2019, which is five days after the date of the start of the contract. Management rights and fulfillment of tasks are being carried out smoothly for other artists who sign the same terms," explained LM Entertainment.
