The South Korean Ministry of Gender Equality and Family immediately intervened. They intend to warn K-pop stars.

"The standard of 'beauty' of idols in music shows is a serious problem. Most of them are idol band members, but they do not represent a variety of communities," the document said in the guidelines as reported by CNN.

They protested because K-pop idols were considered as a figure who could direct the public to develop unhealthy beauty standards.

"Most K-Pop idol members have similar looks, such as thin body figures, light skin tones, similar hairstyles, similar clothes and makeup," he added.

It's no secret, trainees experience a rigorous selection of training processes by labels. They also had to undergo plastic surgery before releasing a song.

But advice from the ministry released February 12 was attacked by many fans. Even opposition politicians also criticized the policy.

"The government says beautiful light-colored skin cannot exist on TV at the same time. How is it different from the military dictatorship that controls men's hairstyles and women's skirts?
