MC Mong's private messages admitting to a relationship with Cha Gawon have been revealed, sparking controversy.
MC Mong, a renowned singer and producer, is currently in the public spotlight after private messages between him and Cha Gawon, the chairman of P.Ark Group and One Hundred Label, were revealed. The messages were revealed by Cha Gawon's uncle, Mr. A, who is also the head of a major construction company, and allege that they were involved in a controversial relationship.
In the leaked messages, MC Mong admitted to having dated Cha Gawon. "I dated Gawon. Three years ago, he asked me out. After thinking about it for a long time, I agreed to date him. Although he was married, he said he was in the process of getting a divorce. I am very grateful to him for taking care of and protecting me. As a man, I risked everything. I bet with Cha Gawon. He also helped me pay off some gambling debts," MC Mong wrote in the messages.
Mr. A claimed that after receiving the messages, MC Mong personally threatened her not to reveal their relationship to the media, intimidated her, and attempted to blackmail her. However, Cha Gawon's explanation differed. He claimed that if she spoke out, many people would be hurt. "The entire entertainment industry could be turned upside down," he said. Cha Gawon explained that he met MC Mong after she sought help after investors withdrew from his company. However, starting in early 2025, Cha Gawon received reports about MC Mong's involvement in prostitution, which left him feeling betrayed.
Cha Gawon added that if it weren't for those issues, his company wouldn't be in its current predicament. Cha Gawon's side asserted that the allegations regarding their private lives were completely false and an attempt by the two men to seize control of the company. MC Mong denied the affair allegations and directed criticism at the television station, stating that the messages were fabricated and maliciously crafted.
Later that day, MC Mong expressed his disappointment on a live broadcast, saying, "I intend to fight this with my reputation on the line. I will hold them accountable for the last 18 years of my life that were taken from me. I will also file a lawsuit for damages of approximately 100 billion KRW against the producers of 'PD Note.'" This controversy has clearly shaken the entertainment world, and many are eagerly awaiting further developments in the case.
