Actor Ji Chang Wook is currently in the spotlight after reportedly undergoing a special tax audit by South Korean tax authorities some time ago.
Local media reported that Investigation Bureau 2 of the Seoul Regional Tax Office conducted a non-routine inspection of the actor last March.
During the audit, officers reviewed his tax returns and the management of various expenses related to his business activities.
The audit resulted in the determination of a substantial additional tax liability, although the exact amount has not been disclosed.
This case immediately attracted public attention because the audit Ji Chang Wook underwent was described as a special audit, not a regular audit.
In response to the report, the actor's agency acknowledged the additional tax but denied allegations of intentional tax evasion.
The agency explained that the problem arose from differences in the interpretation of regulations regarding personal income and corporate income.
