Jennie's agency ended the debate about the smoking controversy with an apology. According to the agency, Jennie reflected on her actions of smoking indoors.


Jennie has recently received attention because she was caught smoking electronics/vaping indoors. Many initially thought that the BLACKPINK member was using a diffuser, but the agency confirmed that Jennie was indeed smoking.


Now, a post on the Nate Pann forum entitled, "BLACKPINK's Jennie used to hate smokers" has become a topic of conversation. The post included a screenshot where the idol allegedly reprimanded smokers in public spaces.


Jennie is said to have reprimanded the smoker by saying, "Stop smoking. Go where the smokers are." The creator of the post then wrote the sentence, "But, now he even smokes in front of his makeup staff."


This post is filled with comments from netizens defending Jennie. "Yes, that was a long time ago. I know it's better to avoid cigarettes as much as possible, but I started smoking without realizing it. But, there are lots of girls who smoke e-cigarettes, right?[sic!]," wrote one netizen.


"I'm not trying to protect him, but that's what you would say in a public space. Especially if you're a celebrity whose face is shown to the public, it's natural to say that in front of the camera. Maybe he wasn't smoking at that time[sic!]," added another .


On the other hand, Jennie's agency ended the debate about Jennie's smoking controversy with an apology. "We sincerely apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable with Jennie's behavior in the content released on the 2nd," said the agency ODD ATELIER.


According to the agency, Jennie reflected on her actions of smoking indoors. The idol has also apologized to the staff who were exposed to the vape fumes. "Jennie reflected on her smoking behavior indoors and causing discomfort to the staff," added the agency.


"He has personally contacted the staff present at the time to apologize. We also apologize to the fans who felt disappointed and promised to respond with a more mature and better image in the future," concluded the agency. (wk/charity)
