Source Music is suing Min Hee Jin CEO of NewJeans for damages arising from defamation, business obstruction, and insult to LE SSERAFIM.
LE SSERAFIM's agency, Source Music, has officially filed a lawsuit against Min Hee Jin, CEO of ADOR, which oversees NewJeans. According to information on July 15, Source Music filed a lawsuit at the Seoul West District Court.
Source Music is suing Hee Jin for compensation worth 500 million won (around Rp. 5.8 billion). The money is considered the cost of losses arising from defamation, business obstacles and insults to LE SSERAFIM.
The amount of the money claim is also based on some of the losses experienced by Source Music, and is likely to increase in the future. There are three main problems raised by Miyawaki Sakura CS's agency in their lawsuit.
The first is Hee Jin's claim that he chose the NewJeans members himself. Furthermore, allegations that HYBE/Source Music unilaterally broke the promise made to debut NewJeans as HYBE's first girl group.
Lastly is the claim that Source Music has ignored the NewJeans members. According to Source Music, Hee Jin's statement sparked rumors that LE SSERAFIM received special treatment. This made Kazuha cs receive severe online harassment.
Source Music is said to have evidence that Hee Jin's statement is not true. This evidence has been submitted along with the legal demands. The evidence includes how Hee Jin postponed work, causing a delay in NewJeans' debut schedule.
Source Music's demands against Hee Jin immediately caught the attention of netizens. However, many people actually criticized Source Music. "It seems like they are trying to bully him out of HYBE instead of asking him for money. I really hate them[sic!]," wrote one netizen.
"Ah, I'm a fan of LE SSERAFIM and they are making this very tiring for us as fangirls, can you just shut up? Crazy company, they piss me off. And leave NewJeans too[sic!]," added another. What do you think? (wk/charity)
