A dancer from South Korea named Gabee expressed his opinion about beauty standards.
As the leader of a dance group called Lachica, Gabee is known for having a positive, fierce, and outspoken attitude.
Gabee made the phrase "Heyyy" trend through his Street Woman Fighter show. This woman is also known to be unmatched in dance battle.
Her ferocity is not only seen in her dance performances, but also in the way she looks at her body.
Quoted from the koreaboo page, Gabee said that he doesn't want to be thin and is trying to learn to accept his body as it is.
"I gave up on being skinny a long time ago. I had a big butt since I was young. I was made fun of for having a 'duck butt' and people said, 'Why is her butt so big?' but now having a big butt is a beautiful thing," said Gabee.
The woman emphasized the importance of not sticking to beauty standards too much. Instead, he says it's more important to understand one's own body and cultivate the traits we're born with.
"If beauty standards change over time, there's no point in following them. I was born with a body that was already like this, I think knowing that and knowing how to work with it to produce a beautiful body is something important," said Gabee.
The dancer boldly stated that she is happy with her weight because she is healthy and being healthy is beautiful.
"It's useless to be 163 cm tall and weigh 48 kg. I weigh over 60 kg but I am very healthy."
"I have a lot of muscle. I have a little fat, but I have elasticity, and I am a healthy person. Isn't a healthy body a beautiful body?" said Gabee.
To note, in the entertainment industry, many celebrities are forced to look a certain way following the views of the public.
MAMAMOO's Solar once spoke about the harsh reality of weight standards. Solar stated that she was once criticized for gaining weight and she was also criticized for being too thin.
Finally, Gabee also said that working out should be done with compassion for the body rather than wanting to change it out of hatred for it. /kpopchart.net
