Launching from Maeil Business News, IU was reported to the police on charges of plagiarism.
Korean Celeb Gossip - On Monday (08/05), someone claimed that IU violated the copyright law to the Gangam Police Station, Seoul.
An unnamed person said that a total of 6 songs belonging to IU were plagiarized by domestic and foreign music artists.
"What is at issue is that the songs are often identical to the original work in terms of melody, rhythm and chord progression, especially the songs 'Good Day' and 'The Red Shoes'," the reporter said as quoted by Maeil Business News on Wednesday (10 /05).
The intros to 6 of IU's songs are suspected of having elements of plagiarism, where the part is the most curious for the audience to listen to all of IU's songs.
Meanwhile, IU's song "The Red Shoes", which was released in 2013, has experienced plagiarism controversy.
IU's song "The Red Shoes" is said to have similarities with the German band's song "Here's us".
Nekta has also shown concern about allegations of plagiarism of IU's songs by sending a report in 2013 to Loen Entertainment.
Send a protest to IU's agency, Nekta is known to have not been responded to by Loen Entertainment.
Someone who reported IU to the police on charges of plagiarism questioned the agency's attitude of ignoring previous protests against accusations of plagiarism.
Then, the reporter also discussed the lack of public awareness of plagiarism and protested to the judiciary in overcoming copyright infringement.
"Besides this case, in connection with the many cases of copyright infringement, I feel there is a problem with the lack of awareness and irrationality of the public as well as the passive attitude of the judiciary in dealing with copyright infringement related to the amount of losses that arise," said the reporter.
Meanwhile, launching from Maeil Business News, violations of copyright law in South Korea are usually a form of pro-report that requires a complaint which can only then be prosecuted.
Because IU's songs that can be accused are related to many different singers, the original song writer who was said to be the target of plagiarism had to submit his own complaint to the police.
Law firm B, which represented the complainant, said that IU was seeking profit by plagiarizing other people's work.
"It is undeniable that the defendant had the aim of seeking profit in his activities as a singer and there is a possibility of repetition considering the many accusations of plagiarism,"
"I would say I am qualified to file a complaint," explained Law Firm B.
6 of IU's songs that were accused of plagiarism include "The Red Shoes", "Good Day", "Bbibbi", "Pitiful", "Boo", and "Celebrity". /kpopchart.net
