'Family' tells the story of a husband who is a black National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent who disguises himself as an ordinary office worker and a sweet but fierce wife who dreams of having the perfect family.
Recently tvN has been teasing fans by releasing photos from the recent script reading of “Family” (literal title) which is Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara's fourth project together. This drama will tell about a black National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent husband who disguises himself as an ordinary office worker and a sweet but fierce wife who dreams of having the perfect family.
“Family” is helmed by executive producer Jang Jung Do, whose hits include “What's Wrong With Secretary Kim,” “The Crowned Clown,” “Our Blues,” “Alchemy of Souls,” and more. The drama also marks the fourth project Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara are helming, as well as their first collaboration in nine years.
Amidst anticipation for the new drama, “Family” has unveiled photos from the cast's first script reading. Joining writer Jung Yoo Sun and directors Jang Jung Do and Lee Jung Mook were actors Jang Hyuk, Jang Nara, Chae Jung An, Lee Soon Jae, Kim Kang Min, Yoon Sang Jung, Gabee, Shin Soo Ah and more.
To start the reading, Jang Jung Do shared, “I was thankful that such a good actor joined the script that I discussed a long time ago with the writer. I will make a set where we can always meet with a smile.” Director Lee Jung Mook added, “Many people say that the project follows its title. I will work hard so that we can have a harmonious family-like atmosphere until the end.”
As expected of the main couple, Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara started the reading by showcasing their perfect chemistry with perfect jokes. Jang Hyuk will play Kwon Do Hoon, Kang Yu Ra's husband who is a black NIS agent who disguises himself as an employee of a trading company. Despite being a charismatic and slightly intimidating agent, Kwon Do Hoon is a loving and romantic husband at home.
Jang Nara will be playing Kang Yu Ra, a household expert and wife of Kwon Do Hoon. While she's a dedicated wife working to protect the perfect family of her dreams, she hides a secret behind her fun-loving nature. The two filled the reading room with laughter and cheers as they were impressed by their comedic, realistic, and passionate acting.
Meanwhile, Chae Jung An will turn into a professional NIS operator Oh Chun Ryun, who is also a sniper Kwon Do Hoon. After getting divorced three times, she decides to help Kwon Do Hoon keep his family to the end, and in turn develops an interesting relationship with Kang Yu Ra.
Meanwhile the producers of “Family” commented, “Since the first reading, the teamwork and synergy of Jang Hyuk, Jang Nara, and the cast exceeded expectations. All the actors and staff will prepare diligently and greet viewers with a drama that we can laugh, laugh, and relate to.” “Family” is slated to premiere next April. (wk/aiss)
