The phenomenon of illegal access to Korean dramas and films in China (Netflix)
Currently, dramas and films made in South Korea are at the peak of their popularity.
The Glory, Squid Game and Extraordinary Attorney Woo are examples of Korean dramas whose level of popularity has even reached a global scale.
Unfortunately, these dramas were banned from airing in China.
On Thursday (23/2), the Entertainment Company Live program by KBS2TV broadcast about the problem of streaming Korean content illegally in China.
Popular dramas such as The Glory, Big Mouth, Squid game and Extraordinary Attorney Woo as well as various other dramas are known to have been distributed illegally in China.
Regarding this, professor Seo Kyung Deok shared his response, “Illegally showing Korean dramas in China has become a common thing and even the people there are not aware that what they are doing is illegal and that is quite worrying.”
He also added, “China's authorities and state media should immediately intervene to solve this problem."
In addition, a government official from the South Korean Copyright Protection Agency also commented on the rise of cases of illegal streaming of Korean dramas in China.
“The illegal distribution of Korean content in China has been carried out in various ways and is not limited to just one content.
"In January alone, 16 illegal sites have been found that broadcast various content from South Korea."
In addition, he also provided additional information, "In the case of illegal streaming of the drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo, we have even removed 2,552 posts related to the drama available on illegal websites."
"Of course we will also take action by limiting search results and advertisements to prevent further copyright infringement of Korean content."
For those of you who like to watch various Korean production content, make sure you access it legally through the various official platforms available! /kpopchart.net
