On the first day of MAMA 2022, IVE, Kep1er, NMIXX, LE SSERAFIM and NewJeans performed TWICE's song 'Cheer Up'. After seeing the covers from the juniors, Jihyo suddenly realized his status.
On Tuesday (29/11), girl groups from IVE to NewJeans collaborated on the first day of the 2022 MAMA Awards. Performing a cover of TWICE's song "Cheer Up", leader Jihyo gave an entertaining reaction.
Through the Bubble application, Jihyo conveyed his comments about the cover of "Cheer Up" by IVE, Kep1er, NMIXX, LE SSERAFIM and NewJeans. The 1997-born idol admitted that he was very strange and amazed at the same time.
"What's with the 'Cheer Up!' party Wow, it feels really weird... I'm a sunbae..." Jihyo said.
Apparently after seeing "Cheer Up" covered by a new generation girl group, Jihyo just realized his status. Debuting in the 3rd generation, TWICE now holds senior status among active K-Pop groups.
On the other hand, Jihyo didn't expect that so much time had passed since the promotion of "Cheer Up". It was so hard to feel, it was as if he had just finished promoting the song a few months ago.
"It feels like only a few months since the 'Cheer Up' promotion, to think how much time has passed," said Jihyo.
Some time ago, TWICE has entered the age of 7 years in 2022. Their latest comeback album "BETWEEN 1&2" with the title track "Talk That Talk" has brought TWICE beyond 10 million total sales. Since the pre-order period alone, this album has been ordered as many as 1 million copies. The album was released last August and received good reception from the public.
Meanwhile, TWICE has had a busy year in 2022. They finished their "III" world tour in February and are still holding concerts in North America and Japan. (wk/inta)
