The single "The Astronaut" by Jin BTS touches the hearts of his fans around the world. Her affection and gratitude for the support they have shown since their debut is present in every note and word, but it's all made with a lot of effort.
In an exclusive interview with Wootteo, the character he also created for the single, Jin shared about the process of preparing for "The Astronaut". The 1992-born singer revealed that he initially had difficulty recording.
When Coldplay first sent "The Astronaut" to him, it had a distinct Coldplay vibe that he liked. So Jin tries to recreate the same feeling, but he eventually finds that he can't exactly replicate their style.
"When Coldplay submitted the song, it sounded like the Coldplay style that I like," said Jin. The oldest member of BTS then opened up about his difficulties, saying, "But when I tried to sing it, I couldn't recreate the feeling. So I threw it all away and started over with my style."
Eventually, Jin realized he needed to incorporate his style into the song, so he canceled all recordings to start over. Then it felt like it wasn't a Chris Martin song anymore, so he had to find a middle ground, which again took a long time.
In total, the song took over 10 days to record. Jin's dedication to finding the perfect tune for his fans and honoring Coldplay's initial vision for "The Astronaut" shows him to be a professional and a caring friend.
Meanwhile, when talking about the music video for "The Astronaut", Jin also mentioned the scene where the child actress pinched her cheeks. Jin imagined him gently pulling his cheek to the side, but the little girl squeezed Jin's cheek more than he expected.
"There was a scene where the child actor pinched my cheek. At first I imagined him pulling my cheek like this (slowly). That's how I imagined it. But the child was still small so we just told him to play with my face and he really did!" exclaimed Jin. (wk/goddess)
