Jackson Admits GOT7's Music While Still At JYP Didn't Really Fit With The Members

Eric Then Asked About How He Found His Musical Sound. Jackson Responded By Saying That He 'Kept At It' And Experimented Until He Found What He Liked.

GOT7's Jackson recently sat down with Eric Nam for the latest episode of the Daebak Show podcast to talk about his latest studio album "Magic Man". Here, Jackson also provides insight into his life as a solo artist and GOT7 member.

Eric first asked Jackson about his journey from GOT7's Jackson to Jackson's solo artist and how it reflected in his musical choices. Jackson debuted as one of GOT7's rappers and Eric shared that he had a perception of him before the release of his album, something Jackson said he didn't really have a choice of.

"What else are you going to do, man? You were assigned to do that. You have to listen to the boss," Jackson said.

Eric then asked about how he found his musical sound. Jackson responded by saying that he "kept at it" and experimented until he found what he liked. While Jackson has taken some different musical directions than before, he added that what he does in GOT7 is "still him."

"For GOT7, I think there are still things like me. It's still me but at the same time it's not. Even for the other members, you know, great, all the songs that we make, we're very committed to them. But what do you think it's really the individual members, do you think it's exactly what they want to do? I don't think so," Jackson said.

He explained further by saying, "We got together, we are this project and then we were asked to do this. For us, at that time, everything was an opportunity for us. So, whatever you give me, whatever task you give it to us, we'll do well. We'll try our best to adapt to it, adapt it, and do it. But each member has their own very specific style."

Each member of GOT7 has released their own solo music since the group's departure from JYP Entertainment in January 2021, and have been able to show fans their individual colors. When the group reunited in May 2022 for "NaNaNa", several members stated that this sound was the "most GOT7". (wk/goddess)
