IVE And NewJeans Rookie Of The Year A Rare Moment In History

At the 2022 Melon Music Awards, the Rookie of the Year title went to 2 newcomer girl groups IVE and NewJeans. Two Girl Groups Get Together, Their Victory Is A Rare Event.


IVE and NewJeans have jointly won the Best New Artist alias Rookie of The Year category at the 2022 Melon Music Awards (MMA). The wins of two girl groups in this category have become a rare moment in the history of the entertainment world.


On Saturday (26/11), MMA 2022 held its peak event at the Gocheok Sky Dome, Guro-gu, Seoul. In the Best New Artist category, IVE and NewJeans competed with Billlie, Kep1er, LE SSERAFIM and NMIXX.


When crowned as Rookie of The Year, IVE delivered their victory speech. During the victory speech, Ahn Yujin couldn't hold back his emotions to tears and had to comfort the other members.


After shouting out the name of their fandom, Gaeul shared, "We won the Rookie of the Year award. It's an honor. I was nervous because I didn't expect it. I thank everyone who supported us a lot."


Gaeul then closed his victory speech by shouting the slogan "I-ting" which stands for IVE Fighting. Through this action, they will work hard together.


Besides IVE, NewJeans was also awarded the Rookie of The Year trophy. Even though they haven't debuted for a long time, they were able to show their strength with songs that have successfully perched on charts such as "Attention" to "Hype Boy".


"I am happy to receive the Rookie of the Year award, which can only be received once in a lifetime. I would like to thank our agency officials for their great assistance," said Minji.


As a member from Vietnam and Australia, Hanni took the time to thank her. Then he closed his speech by expressing his great feelings for Korean fans by saying, "Thank you so much for always loving us."


As is known, this year's Rookie of the Year award was dominated by girl group competition. The reason is, throughout 2022 a number of newcomer girl groups have stood out more than in previous years. (wk/inta)
