With a practice site close to a heavy rain damage center in Seoul, girl group ALICE had to get out of there full of struggles after barely being able to get home.
From August 8 to 9, Seoul experienced heavy rains that broke the record for the highest rainfall. In the midst of the flood that hit, the girl group ALICE was also affected.
One of the members, Kim Sohee made a social media post about the realtime situation in Nonhyeon-dong, the location of their practice studio. He reported, "Real-time in Nonhyeon-dong. I can barely go home."
Due to heavy rains, residents did not expect the damage to be so large and bound in various parts of the city. Artists with rehearsal rooms and recording studios in Gangnam couldn't avoid the damage from the rain.
Local media Ilgan Sports recorded a thrilling video of the day ALICE was caught in a flood.
ALICE's practice room is located near Gangnam-daero 122-gil, which was the worst hit after heavy rains. After having dinner and practicing in the practice room, the ALICE members found out too late that the situation outside the building was quite serious and they immediately went home with the staff.
In the video, the ALICE members are walking on a street that is flooded with knee-deep water. From recorded trips, there were incidents such as being dragged by the current and falling. Fortunately, both the members and staff have been confirmed to return home without serious injuries.
Meanwhile, Seoul and Gyeonggi Province experienced local heavy rains for two days from August 8 to 9. In Seoul alone, 3,430 houses and shopping malls were flooded, 224 roads were flooded and 10 landslides were reported.
During the incident, the Seoul Metropolitan Government provided 30 billion won (Rp 300 billion) of emergency assistance to autonomous districts. The aid was disbursed to recover the damage as soon as possible.
ALICE herself was formerly known as ELRIS. Since December 2021, ALICE entered into the new agency IOK Company and rebranded. (wk/inta)
