The South Korean idol group Seventeen has successfully broken its new album sales record. The reason is, Seventeen's new album, titled Face the Sun, has successfully sold more than 2 million copies in its first week of release.

Launching Yonhap, Pledis Entertainment, citing Hanteo Chart data, stated that Seventeen's new album has sold 2,067,769 units since its release on music stores last week.

"To date, this is the most first-week sales of any album released this year," added Pledis Entertainment.

Face The Sun is also Seventeen's sixth album which has sold more than one million copies.

Seventeen's achievement follows BTS who became an artist in K-pop history with a record sales of more than one million copies on the first day of release and two million copies in a week.

"BTS and Seventeen are the only artists in K-pop history to have recorded sales of over one million copies on the first day of album release and over two million copies in a week," added Pledis Entertainment.

For information, the album "Face the Sun" describes Seventeen's hope to become like the sun whose existence is very important in the world. The album contains nine of the group's tracks, with no solo or unit numbers.

Debuting in May 2015, Seventeen is one of the most popular K-Pop groups with hits such as "Very Nice" and "Pretty U". On June 25-25, the 13-member group will begin their third world tour in Seoul. /suara.com
