IU Appears in the Credits of 'The Sound of Magic' Despite Not Having A Role As A Role, What's The Reason?

IU's name appears in the ending credits of the Netflix drama 'The Sound of Magic' even though she is not in the cast. What is the reason? Check out the full explanation below.

The beautiful singer-actress IU surprisingly appeared in the end credits of the Netflix series "The Sound of Magic". This makes fans wonder because he is not one of the actors in the drama starring Ji Chang Wook. So, what's the reason?

Based on the popular webtoon "Annarasumanara", "The Sound of Magic" is a musical about a mysterious magician named Lee Eul (Ji Chang Wook). He then appears before Yoon Ah Yi (Choi Sung Eun), a girl who has lost her dream, and Na Il Deung (Hwang In Yeop), a boy who is forced to dream.

Due to the drama concept, various OSTs are added to each episode to deliver a fairytale feel that crosses reality and fantasy. In particular, the music in this drama serves as a way to extend the emotional lines between characters rather than a dramatic twist.

One of the most attention-grabbing songs in this drama is IU's song "Knees". This song is sung by Yoon Yoo Yi (Hong Jung Min) very well while highlighting his emotional acting.

Apparently there is an interesting story behind the use of the song. During an interview with Celuvmedia on Tuesday (10/5), director Kim Seong Yoon of "The Sound of Magic" revealed that, "The song 'Knees' is the most suitable song to express Yoo Yi's longing for his mother and father."

The director also said that IU had allowed him to use the song for free. Touched by IU's warm heart, the director finally included the diva's name in the end credits of "The Sound of Magic".

Director Kim Seong Yoon explained, "I said that I should buy the copyright to release 'Knees' worldwide, but IU told me to use it (only) because she was the one who wrote and composed the song."

"I am very grateful. We really became close to each other after working together in the drama 'Dream High'," added director Kim Seong Yoon.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time IU has allowed her song to be used in an acting project. Previously, this 1993-born girl also allowed director Kim Jong Kwan to use her song "Lullaby" as the ending theme song for the film "Josee" which was released in 2020. (wk/eval)
