BigHit Responds to Fans' Protests About the inclusion of Bobby Chung's Song in BTS's 'Proof' Album

After fans expressed their disapproval, BigHit issued a response to the controversy regarding Bobby Chung being credited with BTS's upcoming album, 'Proof.'

On May 10, BigHit unveiled the 2nd tracklist for BTS (Bangtan Boys) new special album "Proof". Soon, the 10th track from the track list "Filter", a solo song by BTS's Jimin with participation composed by Bobby Chung, drew protests, which BigHit is now responding to.

Jimin's "Filter" is included in BTS' full album vol.4 "MAP OF THE SOUL: 7" released in February 2020. Besides "Filter", Bobby Chung also participated in composing songs such as "HOME", "Answer: Love Myself", "I 'm Fine" (BTS), "Roller Coaster", and "20cm" (TXT).

The thing is, Bobby Chung was indicted last year on charges of sexual assault and illegally filming two ex-girlfriends, and the case is still pending. Therefore, netizens believe that the song Bobby Chung who is a suspect in a sexual assault case should not be included in the new album because it makes him more money and has more opportunities to appeal. Some Korean ARMYs have even declared a boycott of album purchases.

In October last year, Bobby Chung was indicted on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violent Crimes. He allegedly assaulted a woman he was dating and illegally filmed a sex video.

The police previously confiscated and searched Bobby Chung's home and found a video of him having sex with A illegally. He later admitted to assaulting A, but denied the charge of illegally filming it, saying that it was approved by A. In 2020, Bobby Chung was also accused of illegally filming victim B. B sued him to the prosecutor's office, but he was acquitted of the charges due to insufficient evidence.

In response to this matter, BigHit spoke to Ten Asia, saying, "There is no official position of our agency regarding the controversial composer. We will discuss the songs on the album internally." (wk/goddess)
