Scriptwriter Lee Na Eun had an interview with Sports Kyunghyang to discuss the SBS drama "Our Beloved Summer". He talked about many interesting things, one of which was about the inspiration for the plot of this drama.
"Our Beloved Summer" tells the story of Choi Ung (Choi Woo Shik) and Kook Yeon Soo (Kim Da Mi) who start dating after filming a documentary about the worst and best students at school. Their relationship lasted for a long time, but they ended up breaking up in a bad way.
Five years later, they meet again and shoot a sequel to the documentary. In the process, the love left in their hearts blossomed again and they decided to get married at the end of the broadcast.
Because the plot is quite refreshing, this drama is quite popular on Netflix. So, where did the scriptwriter get the idea to create the plot?
Regarding this, writer Lee Na Eun revealed that the plot of "Our Beloved Summer" was inspired by her own dating experience. He said, "Looking back at my youth, it was awkward and I made a lot of mistakes."
He continued, "When I think back on it, I have a lot of regrets and hope, 'If only I did better.' I thought writing this drama could 'give me another chance.'"
"That's why this drama begins with the reunion of Ung and Yeon Soo. The things I regret or can't say while in a relationship, I wonder what it's like to show that through the journey and growth of the two characters in the drama," he concluded.
Meanwhile, "Our Beloved Summer" has aired its last episode on January 25. This drama brings a happy ending where Choi Ung and Kook Yeon Soo finally get married and shoot a new documentary.
The drama slot itself will be replaced with "Business Proposal" starring Kim Sejeong and Ahn Hyo Seop. The plan, this drama will begin airing on February 21. (wk/eval)
