'Snowdrop' Director Wanted to Cast Jung Hae In From the Beginning, What About BLACKPINK's Jisoo?

While attending the 'Snowdrop' press conference on Thursday (16/12), director Jo Hyun Tak revealed the casting process of Jung Hae In and BLACKPINK's Jisoo. Here's the full narrative.

The JTBC drama "Snowdrop" held a press conference on Thursday (16/12) afternoon local time. This event was attended by director Jo Hyun Tak and the two main actors, BLACKPINK's Jisoo and Jung Hae In.

During the press conference the director revealed the reason for casting Jisoo and Jung Hae In. In the case of Jung Hae In, the director apparently wanted to choose him from the start.

Director Jo Hyun Tak said, "For Jung Hae In, I wanted to choose him from the start. I've thought about it since making the synopsis. So I contacted Jung Hae In, but at first he turned me down."

He continued, "After discussing and considering many things, he finally accepted this offer. I remember we drank beer on the day he said 'okay'. It was the happiest day when I prepared for 'Snowdrop'."

In Jisoo's case, the director chose her because she is quite similar to the character. The director said, "Initially, we didn't intend to cast Jisoo because the script was still being written and at that time it was difficult to imagine what kind of person Young Ro would be. We never planned to choose a rookie actress."

But as soon as we saw Jisoo, we knew that he was Young Ro in our mind. So the casting process was decided in an instant. I don't know if Jisoo remembers him or not, but I threatened him and asked him to tell the agency that he really wanted to do this, " concluded the director.

Meanwhile, "Snowdrop" is prepared to replace the broadcast slot of "Inspector Koo" on JTBC's Saturday - Sunday night. The plan, the drama, which also stars Kim Hye Yoon, will start airing on December 18. (wk/eval)
