Forbes recently released a series of K-Pop artists in the top 10 with the most income. However, many are curious as to why certain groups that are considered to have no less high global fans can escape the list.
Many K-Pop artists have created YouTube channels to upload their works for fans to see. Such as music, daily vlogs to short web dramas that fans can enjoy at any time.
The site is one of the largest social media platforms in the world. Of course, YouTube has become another medium for these groups to increase their income.
Therefore, Forbes has made a list of the top 10 highest paying K-pop YouTube channels based on their YouTube data for 2021. It is not surprising that BTS' YouTube "Bangtan TV" is in the number one position with earnings of 16.5 million dollars or around Rp. 236 billion for the group.
This is due to the popularity of BTS around the world, which makes this high income figure come to this one boy group. Then, in second place was obtained by BLACKPINK (Black Pink). BLACKPINK came in second with $11.6 million or around Rp. 166 billion.
Then, the next sequence was followed by NCT Dream with 1.9 million dollars or around 27 billion. Then there is SEVENTEEN (II) who is in 4th place with an annual revenue of 1.7 million dollars or around Rp. 24 billion.
After that, there was GOT7's BamBam with 1.5 million dollars or around 21 billion rupiahs, MAMAMOO around 21 billion dollars, and EXO with 1.5 million dollars or 21 billion rupiahs. IU took 8th place with IDR 20 billion (USD 1.4 million) followed by AESPA IDR 17 billion (USD 1.2 million) and TXT with IDR 14 billion (980 thousand dollars).
Meanwhile, many are in awe of the incomes of K-Pop artists who have gained worldwide popularity. However, some netizens did not agree with the release of the ranking because they did not put the name of the artist from the JYP Entertainment agency at all in the top 10.
"BTS has the third highest paid YouTube channel in the world," wrote a netizen comment. "I'm very proud of NCT Dream. They didn't even debut overseas," said another netizen.
"Where is Stray Kids? I think they are famous for their high views on YouTube," wrote another comment. "So that's the real view that reduces promotion from the company," another commented. "I don't know why there are no artists from JYP. Even though TWICE is very famous all over the world. Maybe they didn't provide data to FORBES, so they didn't enter," wrote a commentary compliment.
