Song Kang admits that he was worried when he decided to star in the TvN drama 'Navillera' even though he was considered to have successfully portrayed his character very well.
Recently, Song Kang underwent a photo shoot and interview with GQ Korea magazine. Song Kang also discussed his current life as an actor.
Song Kang revealed that every role he got, had little in common with his true nature. Song Kang also discussed the drama "Navillera" which ended a while ago.
Song Kang admitted that he was quite worried when he decided to star in the drama adaptation of the webtoon. The reason is, it is the first time competing acting with a senior actor (Park In Hwan). Song Kang is afraid that he won't be able to show good bromance like his previous roles.
"This is my first time working with a senior actor, and I was very worried about how to make the bromance between two people with such a large age difference seem natural," said Song Kang.
However, his worries evaporated as Park In Hwan was very kind to him. Park In Hwan didn't even hesitate to approach him first behind the scenes of "Navillera" to get to know him better.
Thanks to him, the chemistry of Duk Chool (Park In Hwan) and Chae Rok (Song Kang) happened naturally. Even when the camera wasn't on, he approached me as Duk Chool so I could comfortably immerse myself in my own role. I followed in his footsteps," explained Song Kang.
Song Kang also shared how he looked cheerful even though he was tired. He admitted that he always reminded himself when he was a newcomer actor.
"Every morning when I leave the house, I make a promise to myself. Even though I'm tired, I remember my days as a rookie actor when I really wanted to work. I feel so grateful for that moment and my tiredness fades a bit. I make decisions like that every day giving me the energy to keep going. Of course, I also make sure to eat a variety of healthy foods."
Song Kang is also happy because he often gets nicknames for his roles. Song Kang also admitted that he was still very far from the word icon.
"I became very proud when viewers watched the scene I worked really hard on and gave me a nickname. With 'Navillera' I love how the viewers gave Chae Rok the nickname 'Bigtese'," said Song Kang. He later explained that the nickname came about because even though he is tall, he acts cute like a Maltese puppy.
"The word 'icon' is still far from me. Instead of wanting to be an icon, I just want to do the work assigned to me one by one, without regrets. Through that slow and steady growth, I hope to be remembered by the public as an actor who expresses various emotions. naturally," explained Song Kang.
"If I naturally become an icon in that way, I think I will be very happy. For the days to come, I want to work harder on my role and give intense thoughts to my acting," he concluded. (wk/alpha)
