SEVENTEEN's Mingyu And Wonwoo Tell The Difference Between Promotions As A Duo And A Group

In conjunction with their first digital single “Bittersweet,” SEVENTEEN's Wonwoo and Mingyu (II) recently had a video call interview with J-14 Magazine. Like some fans, many have wondered what it would be like to work as a duo vs with a group.

For those who aren't aware, SEVENTEEN is a group of thirteen members, so going from thirteen to only two members is a pretty big change. Mingyu revealed that the biggest difference is promoting, filming, and making all the vocals in the single.

“Only the two of us are doing this interview right now. And only the two of us shot the music video. On the one hand, this may also be the first time that my vocals are the majority of our songs," said Mingyu.

Mingyu also added that his opinions and creative thoughts are further represented in “Bittersweet”. “I think my personal thoughts are reflected more directly this time,” Mingyu continued

While Mingyu noticed some differences, Wonwoo stated that he felt the approach to this single was similar to the way SEVENTEEN worked on music. “For me… I don't think there's a big difference in the way I approach our music compared to when we made SEVENTEEN's music,” concluded Wonwoo.

Although there isn't much difference in his approach, Wonwoo agrees with Mingyu that he can put his thoughts and emotions in more hands-on. "But like Mingyu said, I think my personal emotions are more directly embedded into the song," he said.

Before moving on to the next question, Mingyu added one last funny comment about working with all the members. “And more than anything… it's very quiet right now. If all of us 13 were here, it would be very chaotic and noisy," said Mingyu.

"Bittersweet" kicked off the SEVENTEEN 2021 project "Power of Love". It reveals the conflict between the sweetness of newfound love and the friendship between a group of 3 old friends.

Wonwoo and Mingyu helped write lyrics about the dilemma between love and friendship. On the other hand, SEVENTEEN is also preparing to make a comeback on June 18 with their 8th mini-album "Your Choice". (wk/putr)
