McDonald's Korea officially announced that since the launch of the food on May 27 in South Korea, they have sold more than 1.2 million BTS Meals, and that's only in Korea.
The first collaboration of BTS (Bangtan Boys) with McDonald's was a huge success. The fast food restaurant has sold more than 1.2 million BTS Meals in South Korea alone.
McDonald's collaborated with BTS to launch BTS Meal which was designed according to the favorite menu of RM (Rap Monster) and his friends. This special menu is available in 50 countries around the world.
Although the food varies slightly in certain areas, it usually consists of 10 pieces of Chicken McNuggets, medium fries, and a medium drink, along with sweet chili sauce and Cajun.
McDonald's Korea officially announced on June 23 that since the launch of the food on May 27 in South Korea, they have sold more than 1.2 million BTS Meals, and that's only in Korea.
In addition, the popularity of BTS Meal boosted the overall sales of Chicken McNuggets in South Korea. During the period from May 27 to June 21, sales of Chicken McNuggets jumped 250 percent from the four-week period prior to the launch of BTS Meal.
A spokesperson for McDonald's Korea stated, "Since the launch of BTS Meal, customers of all ages and genders have enjoyed it, and as a result, we have recorded a staggering number of sales."
As BTS Meal will be available until June 30 in South Korea, the company added, "Since food sales will continue for about a week, we hope that there will be more customers looking for food in the days to come."
BTS Meal was launched in Indonesia on June 9 and sparked a great stir. McDonald's finally stopped selling BTS Meal because it was considered to violate health protocols by inviting crowds in the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. (wk/chus)
