Reaping controversy after the painting he made for charity, Lee Yoo Bi's agency finally opened up.
A few days ago the actress posted a photo of herself posing with her painting showing off her two favorite Pokemon characters, Charmander and Squirtle with the caption “Bestfriend Forever.”
He also added a message to his post by writing, "I personally painted this picture. The proceeds will be given in the form of charitable donations.”
But unexpectedly his good intentions turned out to be stumbled by copyright issues, because the picture he painted was of a famous character from Pokemon, so selling it would be a violation of copyright law, even if it was intended for charity.
Seeing this, many Korean netizens then flooded scathing comments until Y-Bloom Entertainment as the actress's agency opened their voices.
Here's the agency's statement:
“Hello, this is Y-Bloom Entertainment.
We are delivering an official statement regarding the Lee Yu Bi incident that occurred on Friday, June 2.
Lee Yu Bi accepted the offer from the charity auction, 'Public Auction.' With the agreement that the purpose of the painting was for donations, she happily donated the painting she drew.
While he was painting his favorite character, he did not realize that his painting would violate copyright laws. We apologize for the inconvenience we have caused.
We will be more careful to prevent incidents like this in the future. We'll be listening to Pokémon Korea's opinion regarding all future charity auctions.
Thank you." (www.kpopchart.net)
