After the charges against B.I. stated by the Prosecutor's Office this morning, IOK Company finally opened its voice.
On June 8, 2021 night KST, IOK Company, which is now the agency where B.I. released an official statement, responding to concerns fans may still be in disbelief over the allegations from the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office stating that B.I. indicted and will face his first trial on 9 July.
Here's the agency's full statement:
“Hello, this is IOK Company.
We are making a statement regarding the charges of our artist B.I.
The charge against our artist is an allegation from 2019 that he purchased narcotics. In 2020, according to the law, B.I underwent a strict examination and drug test nine times, and he continues to await the final decision in his case.
Following the incident, B.I and our agency were constantly arguing and worrying about the direction he should take in the future. While our artist and company acknowledge his past mistakes and cannot undo things that have happened, we reflect on how he can live the rest of his life as a more honorable member of society and what direction he can take to be more useful to the world.
Rather than just going back or continuing to reflect, we hope our artists can use the influence they already have in a way that will help society, even if only a little. With that in mind, we released [B.I.]'s charity album 'Midnight Blue' and we were able to experience for ourselves that music can be a bigger help to society than we thought. With the same intention and desire to show the music that he [B.I.] has prepared to date, we have finally released his new album. We apologize for the fact that we released his new album amidst the uncomfortable controversy of our artist, which resulted in the current situation.
We also sincerely apologize for the fact that, through our perhaps somewhat hasty actions, we brought attention to the fans who sent [B.I] their support and encouragement.
Currently, our artist is waiting for the end of his case. Our company will approach that end with a sincere apology and the mindset of always reflecting on the past and not repeating past mistakes. We will support our artist to help him live his life as a mature and respectable member of society.
Thank you." (www.kpopchart.net)
