JYP, FNC, Starship, Cube, Woollim, TS and Big Hit Entertainment all want to sign Jungkook as a trainee. But he chose Big Hit because of RM, his current leader.
Jungkook BTS (Bangtan Boys) is known to join Big Hit Entertainment, now HYBE, after rejecting offers from seven major agencies. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Jungkook was asked about RM (Rap Monster) which was the main reason for choosing Big Hit.
After his audition for the third season of "Superstar K" failed, Jungkook received offers from seven agencies who saw something special in him. JYP Entertainment, FNC Entertainment, Starship Entertainment, Cube Entertainment, Woollim Entertainment, TS Entertainment and Big Hit Entertainment all want to sign Jungkook as a trainee.
At the time, Big Hit Entertainment was relatively unheard of on the K-Pop scene. But Jungkook revealed that the main reason for choosing the agency was RM.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Jungkook revealed what he saw in RM at the time. "I can't remember clearly what happened at that time," said the 1997-born singer.
RM became interested in hip hop music and wrote lyrics at the age of 11. By middle school, he started rapping in amateur hip hop circles. In 2007 at the age of 13, he even composed his own song, and in 2008, he performed at a concert.
Over the next several years, even though his parents were against him becoming a musician, RM became active in the underground rap scene, collaborating with big names like Zico.
Jungkook revealed, "I just thought that RM was really cool. When I saw (RM) 's rap, I just thought he was really cool and awesome. I believed maybe fate drew me to him."
If he chose one of the other companies, Jungkook could have ended up in GOT7, Pentagon, MONSTA X, or one of the many other groups that emerged from these six agencies. But as Jungkook said, destiny made him now with BTS.
Meanwhile, Jungkook and BTS will release "Butter" which is an English-language song on May 21 in the form of a digital single. The music video was also released on the same day. (wk / chus)
