In this week's episode of "Showterview with Jessi", the next soloist guest star Jessi (Jessica H.O.) is Red Velvet's Joy. In person, Joy seemed to feel very comfortable in the presence of Jessi, who acted as a counselor during the video.
In one segment, Joy revealed that, it has been a long time since she released or prepared an album. This made him have a mixture of emotions when recording his debut solo album entitled "Hello".
"At first, just working on the album alone made me excited. But as time went on, I realized how hard the staff worked for me. The things I used to enjoy became burdensome for me," said Joy.
There is a lot of pressure for any K-Pop idol to release an album, but especially if it's their first time doing it on their own. For Joy, it couldn't be more accurate.
"This is burdening me," he continued. "It piled up so much that it was hard for me to hold on any longer."
Despite all the hardships, Joy showed that she is reluctant to share her feelings with those around her. By doing this, it made him feel "isolated".
"When it's hard even for me, how can I share it with other people? I don't want to share my burden with anyone around me. So I decided to hide the difficulty," said Joy.
As a soloist, Jessi really understands what Joy means. Even though he didn't have all the answers, the fact that they could relate to each other seemed comforting.
Jessi also reminds Joy that not being okay is normal. She also reminded Joy that the best thing to do is talk about your feelings with the people around her.
Joy's special album will be titled "Hello" and contains six songs which are remakes of hit songs released between the 1990s and 2000s. The album will be released online on May 31 at 6 p.m. KST, and the physical album will be released on June 3. Pre-orders began last May 17 KST. (wk / daughter)
