He successfully defeated a number of well-known actors who were nominated, such as Byun Yo Han, Sol Kyung Gu, Lee Jung Jae, and Joo Jin Woong.
The owner's real name Uhm Hong Sik was born in Daegu, South Korea on October 6, 1986. He is the youngest of 3 children.
Yoo Ah In's initial interest in the entertainment world was when he received an offer to audition from the agency when he was in high school. However, his parents opposed his wish, because he had not finished school.
Finally, Yoo Ah In traveled alone to Seoul and continued his high school there, although he eventually dropped out. He entered university after completing the GED (General Education Development) test for high school certification.
Before debuting, Yoo Ah In was prepared to become a K-Pop star in a group with five other people. Because he thought he had no talent in music, he was finally debuted as an actor in 2003 and carried the stage name Yoo Ah In.
Yoo Ah In's name began to shine since starring in television commercials and teen drama Sharp. He was surprised by the popularity he received, so he decided to go on hiatus from the entertainment world.
Continuing his acting career, Yoo Ah In starred in a low-budget indie film titled Boys of Tomorrow, which was screened at the Busan International Film Festival in 2006.
After that, the actor appeared in many films, such as Skeletons in the Closet (2007), Punch (2011), The Throne (2015), Default (2018), and Voice of Silence (2020).
Winning Best Actor at the 2021 Baeksang Arts Awards is not Yoo Ah In's first award. Previously, he won Best New Actor at the Busan Film Critics Award (2007), and Favorite Actor at the Korea World Youth Film Festival (2015). (aln)
