Unlike boy groups or girl groups, groups consisting of mixed members (male and female) apparently have different comeback preparations. Jiwoo K.A.R.D Explains the reason.

Unlike boy groups or girl groups, groups consisting of mixed members (male and female) actually have different comeback preparations. This group that is often called co-ed has quite difficult comeback preparations according to the confession of one of its members.

Back when K.A.R.D confirmed that they were scheduled for a September 2019 comeback with their second digital single “Dumb Litty”, KARD fans brought back the past live stream where Jiwoo shared the reasons why their comebacks were so far apart.

Many people commented that it had been a long time since the group had promoted, with the comeback "Bomb Bomb" being released five months earlier. In the live broadcast by member Jiwoo, he provided insight into why co-ed groups are having a hard time with comebacks.

He revealed that producers usually write songs for one-gender groups. This means that most producers will make songs specifically for girl groups or boy groups. If not, then they will make music for a duet or soloist.

Since there aren't many mixed groups in K-Pop, producers don't usually make music for mixed-gender groups. Because of this, K.A.R.D usually had to ask for a song to be written for them.

The problem with K.A.R.D is that because songs are not available for the mixed group, they cannot choose from the available music samples or guides like other groups do. Fans believe this is why BM took his hands and produced their next song.

Many expect more producers to make music for mixed groups, saying that it might help more groups like K.A.R.D debut. In fact, not many co-ed groups have made their way in the Korean music scene.

K.A.R.D is a joint South Korean group formed by DSP Media. They consist of members J.Seph, BM, Somin, and Jiwoo. They officially debuted on July 19, 2017, with an EP titled "Hola Hola".

K-pop brand K.A.R.D has been described as "undeniably trendy", with their discography focusing on a contemporary house and dancehall atmosphere, which Billboard calls something "pulled straight off the Top 40 charts". The group's musical style diverged from electropop, hip hop, EDM, and alt-R&B which were known to have trended on the American music market during their pre-debut days. (wk / daughter)
