TWICE has succeeded in making new history in the Japanese music industry.
Last year, the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) started making a new certification for the streaming category.
According to the certification system, a song can get a Silver certificate if it has achieved 30 million streams, a Gold certificate for 50 million streams and a Platinum certificate for 100 million streams.
Now RIAJ has awarded a Platinum certificate for TWICE's song in 2019 entitled 'Feel Special'.
Although TWICE has previously received a Platinum certificate from the RIAJ for a physical album, this is their first Platinum certificate for the streaming category. “Feel Special” is also the first overseas female singer song to get a Platinum certificate for streaming in Japan.
Meanwhile, various other K-Pop artists who got Gold certification after reaching 50 million streams are MAMAMOO with the song “HIP”, BLACKPINK with “Kill This Love”, and BTS with the Japanese song “Your Eyes Tell“.
The songs "Anpanman" and "Euphoria" by BTS also won a Silver certificate, as did Shaun's "Way Back Home" which has reached 30 million streams.
Congratulations to TWICE, BTS, BLACKPINK, MAMAMOO and Shaun! (www.kpopchart.net)
