On February 25, Netflix Korea held the annual online press event “See What's Next Korea 2021“, which discussed their annual biggest Korean production on Netflix.
Currently, there are a total of 13 new Netflix original Korean series that will be broadcast worldwide in 2021, including 10 drama series, a standup comedy series starring Lee Soo Geun, and more.
Of the 11 upcoming Netflix Korean original series, 9 of which have released exclusive stills which you can check out below!
1. Sea of Quiet
Cast: Bae Doo Na, Gong Yoo, Lee Joon
Summary: In the future, the entire earth will become a desert, devoid of life, food, and water. The research crew left at the base of the moon embarked on a dangerous mission that risked their lives.
2. D.P
Cast: Jung Hae In, Goo Kyo Hwan, Son Suk Goo
Summary: An ordinary young man in the army during his mandatory military service one day is assigned to the “D.P” (Deserter Pursuit) unit, a unit tasked with chasing and capturing soldiers who have left their military posts.
3. My Name
Cast: Han So Hwee, Ahn Bo Hyun, Kim Sang Ho, Park Hee Soon
Summary: A young woman goes undercover in the police system to solve the mystery behind her father's death. The series is directed by Kim Jin Min from "Extracurricular".
4. Move to Heaven
Cast: Lee Jae Hoon, Tang Jun Sang
Summary: Geuroo (Tang Jun Sang) has Asperger's syndrome, and Sanggoo (Lee Jae Hoon) is his caregiver. Both of them run a business of collecting belongings of people who have passed away.
5. Squid Game
Cast: Lee Jung Jae, Park Hae Soo
Summary: People of all ages and backgrounds participate in this mysterious survival game with hefty cash prizes. At each stage of the game, they must make a life or death decision.
6. Hell
Cast: Yoo Ah In, Park Jung Min, Kim Hyun Joo, Won Jin Ah
Summary: Supernatural entities known as the gatekeepers of death appear before a select group of people, to condemn them to hell forever. While those who have been visited by the guards are struggling with the extraordinary phenomenon that is happening before their eyes, a mysterious new cult is catching the attention of the public.
7. Our School Is
Cast: Yoon Chan Young, Park Ji Hoo, Jo Yi Hyun
Summary: This series tells the story of high school students who are trapped inside their school because of a zombie outbreak.
8. Kingdom: Ashin of the North
Cast: Jun Ji Hyun, Park Byung Eun
Summary: This special season of the 'Kingdom' series tells the story of a mysterious new character named Ashin. The story follows Ashin's journey from his tribe to his meeting with Lee Chang's entourage at the end of season 2.
9. I Wish the World Would End
Cast: Park Se Wan, Shin Hyun Seung, Youngjae GOT7, Minnie (G) I-DLE, Han Hyun Min
Summary: A sitcom centered around students living in an international studies dormitory in Seoul.
