In an interview, scriptwriter Lee Si Eun explains why she has the difference between drama and webtoon versions of 'True Beauty'. Curious Why? The following is the full statement.
Recently, scriptwriter Lee Si Eun underwent an interview to talk about the drama "True Beauty" which she recently worked on. On that occasion, he revealed the reason for the difference between the drama version and the webtoon.
Writer Lee Si Eun explained that she paid a lot of attention to keeping the charm of the webtoon alive. Besides, he added various stories to match the format of the drama which has a duration of 60 minutes per episode.
"There is a clear reason why the original webtoon is receiving so much love. I would consider the statement that a drama is as good as a webtoon as a compliment. But not better, because the webtoon and drama are of different genres," said Lee Si Eun.
In some parts, "True Beauty" has a plot and story that is quite different from the webtoon version. The drama ends with the happy ending story of Lim Joo Kyung (Moon Ga Young) and Lee Su Ho (Cha Eunwoo). Besides that, Lim Joo Kyung also decided to make peace and forgive all the mistakes of Kang Soo Jin (Park Yoo Na).
Lee Si Eun thinks that she has full rights to write stories in the drama "True Beauty". That's why he can distinguish the flow and ending according to his wishes.
Based on that reason, Lee Si Eun ended up not discussing the ending "True Beauty" with her webtoon writer, Yaongyi. "The original writer understands about adaptation. So I can freely determine the ending," said Lee Si Eun.
Lastly, Lee Si Eun expressed her gratitude to the viewers who have given so much love to the drama. "Because the original work was so loved, I was worried about whether viewers would like the drama," said Lee Si Eun.
"But (despite my worries), they showed a lot of love and interest towards him. Thank you for supporting 'True Beauty' until the end," he concluded.
Meanwhile, TVN's "True Beauty" broadcast slot on Wednesday - Thursday night will be replaced with "Mouse". The plan, the drama, starring Lee Seung Gi and Lee Hee Joon, will begin airing on March 3. (wk / eval)
