Bit Hit Japan Has Announced 'Big Hit Japan Global Debut Project', With Some Familiar Faces. The Project Was Created To Produce Artists Who Will Start Their Career In Japan Before Appearing On The World Stage.


The survival event made by Big Hit Entertainment and CJ ENM, “I-Land” has indeed ended. This survival program ended with the birth of a 7 member boy group named ENHYPEN. However, Big Hit Entertainment recently brought good news by announcing that they will debut a trainee group “I-Land”.

Bit Hit Japan has announced the "Big Hit Japan Global Debut Project," with several familiar faces from "I-Land" participating. Yesterday, Friday (1/1), it was announced that Big Hit Japan launched a project to produce artists who will start their careers in Japan before appearing on the world stage.

Five members namely K, Nicholas, EJ, Kyungmin, and Ta-Ki, who were introduced through the program "I-Land" in 2020, will be part of the project. Meanwhile there was also an additional member who joined after the audition called "& AUDITION." The group is scheduled to debut in 2021.

The project mentors themselves revealed include Big Hit Entertainment chairman and CEO Bang Si Hyuk, producer Pdogg, and performance director Son Sung Deok. There is also performance director Sakura Inoue and sound producer and director Soma Genda. The special advisors for this project are Ryosuke Imai and UTA.

On the other hand, the boy group made by “I-Land”, ENHYPEN, is known to have set a record among rookie groups that debuted this year. According to Belift Lab, ENHYPEN recorded high sales figures for their debut album, "Border: DAY ONE". The album, which was released on November 30, sold a total of 288,873 copies, a fantastic number for a rookie group.

Previously, YG Entertainment's boy group, TREASURE, held the record for most album sales by a rookie group in 2020. Their album "The First Step: Chapter One" sold 166,140 copies on its first day and a total of 244,190 copies since its release in August.

ENHYPEN's debut album sold approximately 230,000 copies on the day of its release. The group also debuted at No. 1 on Japan's Oricon Daily Chart and top five on iTunes "Top Albums" chart in 34 countries, making their own history in the global music market.
