BAE 173 member Lee Hangyul is one of the very few K-Pop idols who are adopted. During his appearance on “K-Pop Idol Olympic”, Hangyul gave a positive message about growing up in an orphanage environment.
In his appearance on “K-Pop Idol Olympic” Hangyul shared that he is not ashamed of the fact that he grew up in an orphanage. She is not ashamed that she grew up in an orphanage because it was thanks to the orphanage that she was able to live well.
"I don't think (growing up in an orphanage) is something that should embarrass me. I've been living well," said Hangyul.
He also shared that he talks about this a lot on broadcasts because he wants his friends from the orphanage to be more confident. She tries to give positive energy that growing up in an orphanage is not something to be embarrassed about and needs to be ridiculed.
"I want my friends from the orphanage to see me talking confidently on TV and more confident about it myself. That's why I brought it up because it's not something that can be ridiculed. We've all tried hard," continued Hangyul.
As is known Hangyul was abandoned by his biological parents when he was a baby. She then spent the first seven years of her childhood living in an orphanage. Thankfully, Hangyul's charm managed to captivate the heart of one of the social workers at the orphanage.
When she was in first grade, social workers decided to adopt her, becoming the first mother she knew. Hangyul's adoptive family is on the older side. Her father is now over 60 years old, while her older brothers are 35 and 36 years old. Despite this, they gave him all the love and attention he never received as a child.
Despite knowing that he was abandoned by his biological parents, Hangyul lovingly confessed that he knew they must have a reason to give up and may fall during difficult times. Because his adoptive parents gave him everything and took good care of him, Hangyul said he worked hard so he could pay them back. Fortunately, Hangyul's hard work paid off, making him debut in several groups and become a star.
