The leader, Hana recently wrote a touching letter to Dear Friend (as Gugudan fans are called) through their official fancafe account.
In the letter, Hana expressed disappointment as well as an apology for the sudden disbandment news.
The following is the contents of the letter written by Hana:
"Friends,
Hello, this is Hana Gugudan. Looks like we brought very sudden news at an important time, when everyone ended the year. My heart is filled with disappointments and apologies. Do you guys remember the hot summer of 2016? I still can't forget that day, when I stood on stage for the first time as Gugudan and met Dear Friend for the first time. I'm sure I'll remember that day for the rest of my life. The time I spent as Hana Gugudan with my other members was a very precious time in my life.
After this sudden news exploded, countless people sent me words of comfort and encouragement, recalling our past efforts and struggles. Of course, not every day is spent smiling, but I'm still happy and able to dream bigger dreams because our Dear Friends who act as strong pillars of support are right by our side. I also struggled to find the right words to greet all of you as I prepared this letter. I want to give you strength during the most uncertain time, and I'm sorry.
Every time I receive a message from our Dear Friend, telling me that they like me for being a kind and resilient person, telling me that they love being my fan, I am strengthened more than ever. I hope you know that the motivation that moved me to become a tougher person now is our Dear Friend.
Today in particular is a day when all the memories of the past feel so vivid and different, like going through one past photo at a time. I am grateful that when I think of my members and Dear Friend whom I love, I smile, not complain. I'm very sad that I couldn't meet all of you in person because of COVID-19, but I hope that you will take care of your health, and I hope that we can meet again one day. I sincerely thank you with all my heart for supporting and loving Gugudan as Gugudan's Dear Friend.
