“We thank fans who have loved and supported Gugudan all this time. As of December 31, 2020, Gugudan has officially disbanded, ”the agency said as quoted by Allkpop, Wednesday (30/12/2020).
The decision to disband Gugudan, according to Jellyfish, was taken after long discussions with all the girl group members. After disbanding, the agency will focus on the solo activities of each member.
"We will continue to do our best to develop the individual abilities of each Gugudan member, be it in the world of singing, acting, or other fields."
At the end of the caption, Jellyfish Entertainment said, "Once again, we thank you for the support that fans have given and we apologize for this news."
Gugudan debuted with eight personnel through the mini album 'Act. 1-The Little Mermaid 'which was released on June 28, 2016. In October 2018, the first girl group to be named Jellyfish had to lose Hyoyeon.
Throughout the four years of his career, Sejeong cs released a total of two single albums and four mini albums. As a group, they have also received awards at several international events.
Gugudan received the Rising Star Award at the Asia Artist Awards in 2016. A year later, they took home the Performance Award trophy from the Soribada Best K-Music Awards.
Then in 2018, Gugudan again received the New Wave Award from the Asia Artist Awards. *
