Too Cruel, 'I-LAND' Survival Program Criticizes Korean Netizens

The 'I-LAND' survival program on Mnet recently drew criticism from Korean netizens for being deemed to have a system that was too cruel for trainees.

‘I-LAND’ is a survival program created as a result of collaboration between CJ ENM companies and Big Hit Entertainment.

Through this program a number of trainees will compete to be able to debut as new boy group members, by holding a survival event in a house called 'I-LAND'.

However, lately many viewers felt unhappy because the program system was considered too cruel. Trainees are required to compete with each other in unhealthy ways and even have to betray their friends in order to survive.

Some critical comments made by Korean netizens on Naver's website:

"This program really makes me feel uncomfortable, they have to stop. They take children and make them do things like scenes in a movie, "

"The biggest violation of privacy is installing CCTV cameras in the contestants room‘ I-LAND ’. With the rise of hidden camera cases taking place in our country, why do you do such activities? "

"Events like this must be stopped. It's very scary with the fact that shows like this can be considered a reality show, "

"Looks like we have to get rid of Mnet completely. They always make fake reality shows with manipulated systems, "

"It's very disappointing because there are more TV shows that illustrate our culture that always supports competition like this. We should not divide children into different classes or groups, then call them bad and good groups, "and many other critical comments.
